The end of January brought an added challenge to the training schedule. I took on a long-term sub position in a first grade classroom for a few weeks, so getting my runs in took some finesse. But I'm happy to report that I didn't miss a single training session despite the additional commitment! Pushing forward!!! Week 7: I Started off the week with 6 miles on the treadmill. When the real feel is -19 degrees you run on the treadmill! Swapped my Tuesday run to Monday because we had the day off from school for Martin Luther King, Jr. day. Glad I got to try out the new tank top that I scored from Old Navy for $3! It's the little things - runners, I know you feel me on this one! Thursday's 3 miles was also a treadmill run. But I was happy to get outside for Saturday's long run of 12 miles. Got to celebrate the accomplishment at my favorite local restaurant with my favorite people! Week 8: Super tough week for getting those runs in. Managed to get another 6-mile and 3-mile run in on the treadmill- ugh....so sick of the treadmill. I did get to wear my new 261 Fearless Team Boston 2019 shirt though- something I didn't think i would get to do outside for a while- but living in New England keeps you on your weather toes! I got 13 miles in OUTSIDE in my t-shirt just a few days later!!! My legs felt heavy but the miles were done...I'm calling it a win. Week 9: Every single run this week was outside!!! The weather was cold, then warm, and then back to cold...again, New England. Got to run a few miles with my husband on Friday! Haven't done that since my first training run for Boston. My 10-mile run on Sunday felt amazing- which makes me feel hopeful that these legs will be able to make it the 26.2 miles when I need them to. My secret weapon is listening to the RISE podcast with Rachel Hollis. She is so motivating and inspirational which is exactly what I need to hear while I run.
Snow is coming so week 10 miles may be a bit challenging but it won't keep me down! Mileage gets real over the next three weeks, too... 15 and 16 mile long runs. If anyone wants to bring me donuts for the post run refuel, glazed are my favorite. :)
